At Manor Fresh, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and maximising our sustainability. From our site in Holbeach, to our growers and our entire supply chain, we recognise our responsibility to create a positive difference to our planet. Our site
Throughout our site in Holbeach Hurn, we strive to operate as sustainably as possible.
Energy
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through transitioning towards more sustainable energy sources. We are proud that an average of 92.5% of our energy is renewably generated on site, through both solar power and anaerobic digestion.
Waste
As well as this, 0% of our waste goes to landfill. By working with ACM Environmental Champions, we can track and monitor our waste stream, ensuring that all waste is diverted away from landfills and is reused, recycled, or recovered.
Water
At Manor Fresh, we recognise that water is a critical resource, not just for our business, but for the entire planet. Because of this, responsible water management is a key priority at our site and throughout our supply chain.
Packaging
With millions of tonnes of plastic waste ending up in landfills and oceans each year. That's why we are committed to finding sustainable packaging alternatives to plastic, balancing product protection with environmental responsibility.
Reducing plastic waste
We are proud of the progress we've made so far. For example, in 2018 we introduced paper sacks for all loose potato lines, eliminating 5,793 kg of plastic every year. Also, we have used paper film to pack all our organic potatoes since 2020, saving a further 1,576 kg of plastic each year. Pulp punnets are also used for many of our vegetable products, creating even more plastic savings.
By prioritising packaging sustainability, we are doing our part to reduce plastic waste and promote a circular economy.
Net zero by 2040
As a fresh produce business, we recognise that our industry will face significant impacts in the future, including increased challenges related to crop yields, quality, and overall production due to the effects of climate change. It is crucial for us to address these challenges by implementing sustainable practices and developing innovative solutions to ensure the long-term resilience of our supply chains. At Manor Fresh, we are committed to taking action towards a sustainable future and mitigating the impacts of climate change on our industry.
With this, our key focus is to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
